On the defensive
Don't push

I will push back
And get way farther
Away from you
I am sick
Of the same
Old song and dance
It gets nowhere

All too often we get into these vicious circles of argument and sounding like a broken record. We forget to say "I love you" and we forget to calmly speak out and rationally discuss things.
ReplyDeleteParents really do know their kids, but sometimes are blinded by who they still dream their child to be.
Kids need more freedom to stretch their wings sometimes too.
They also need to be knocked off their pedestals before they hurt themselves!
However, you are a good kid. They must have a reason to push. And you're smart. They want you to be successful, you know, so you can fund their retirement!
You need to break this cycle. How? not sure.
